bull mccabe's: price of a budwiser: $4; larger size table w/native big ball, green felt, typical house cues, 10% block shots (medium); jukebox; location being what it is, there is a heavy tourist/scum factor here. update: remodeling in progress, in the meantime, d&d will be at lucky jack's, a new joint with doors opening onto both allen and orchard, between delancey & rivington. warning: it'll cost you $1.50 to drop the rack at lucky jack's!

verchkovyna: unfortunately, due to a greedy landlord (certainly not due to a lack of customers), bar 81, which was regularly frequented by some of the best pool players around, is now closed. merry f***ing christmas ;(

mona's: price of a budwiser: $3; medium size table w/native big ball, green felt, typical house cues, 5% block shots (medium); no darts; bartenders are very irish, serious professionals. in a perplexing musical paradox, the sounds of one of the coolest jukeboxes in the les are cancelled by the annoyingly repetitive folk-fiddle combo that's been there for 15 years. they start around 10.
